Nil Desperandum Est – “We must never Despair”

From Ancestry.com: Scottish: originally an occupational name for an administrative official of an estate, from Middle English stiward, Old English stigweard, stiweard, a compound of stig ‘house(hold)’ + weard ‘guardian’. In Old English times this title was used of an officer controlling the domestic affairs of a household, especially of the royal household; after the Conquest it was also used more widely as the native equivalent of Seneschal for the steward of a manor or manager of an estate.

  4. Bobby/Margaret, or whomever is running this site; I was dinking on net and googled my daughter Jessie Lynn Stewart to see what might pop up. You know just doing the responsible parent thing while she’s in San Antonio being 100% dedicated to her college career. Somehow I chased down Jessie Stewart 1883 and ended up on your web site. What a coincidence. Great Job! Tremendously interesting. Reminds me that I am way behind on being a good family member. What are you guys up to? Please shoot me an email so we can stay in touch. I think I can work in a trip to Freer in late August or early September if it works with your schedule. I’m eager to chase down any relationship that may exist between Jessie Stewart 1990 & Jessie Stewart 1883???

I’m glad to hear from you. Sorry about been over a year late in responding. I haven’t been keeping up with the webpage as I should have been.

The family is doing well, Jean has slowed down a bit due to retirement, and last I heard, Jerry is still doing well in Bandera. My sister, Samantha got engaged over Christmas, so next time I fly home will likely be for the wedding. Mom and Dad are fine, Freer doesn’t ever get all that exciting. I’m up here in New Hampshire, trying to stay warm; though this winter isn’t nearly as bad as last year’s.

I hope everyone is doing well back home. Hope to hear from you again,
      Bobby

  5. hey guys. im trying to track my family history …so far i know that my ancestor sean stewart came to america as a slave and his 2 brothers and 3 sisters died in the genocide…

Unfortunately, just about all I have on the Stewarts is what I have posting on this website. I haven’t been able to find anything past Robbert Stewart and his wife, Lucinda Jane Scruggs, and very little on themselves.

If you find find more information that connects to them or their descendants, I’d love to see it.

      Good Luck in your search,
      Bob Lee

  6. Ethan and I have an addition to the family tree. Our son, Garrett Logan Lawlis, was born 05-10-11. And my sister Christin Hawthorne married Christopher Ryan Harrison DOB 05/17/1985. They have a son Cooper Reid Harrison born 05/11/11. Just a quick update!

Thanks for the update. Your grandmother, Dot had sent me some info sometime back, but I didn’t have much. I hope everyone is doing well in the new year. Please, keep in touch.

      Bob
